Earlier in the year, a girl named Sophie Nolan contacted Ushiwear to tell us about her upcoming arctic expedition! Out of 4,000 applicants, Sophie was the only British person to be chosen for the Polar Night Magic expedition along with 5 other explorers.
This October we returned to the ‘Telegraph Ski and Snowboard Show North’ in Manchester for the first time in three years – having attended the London version of the show in the years in between.
The show took place from Friday – Sunday, so we arrived late on the Thursday night to set up the Ushiwear stand. The atmosphere was already building upon arrival, anticipation was high and you could sense the excitement amongst the other retailers; already it was great to be back!
Autumn is our absolute favourite season here at Ushiwear. We can finally put on our cosy hoodies, the scenery is beautiful and there are a whole host of events we look forward to in the last three months of the year. But not only this, autumn fashion to die for!
One Saturday in September we spent our day in a muddy field (in the pouring rain!) as we hosted a stand at this year’s Penistone Agricultural Show. Thank you to all of the lovely people we met.
Originally Ushiwear was developed as a men’s brand, but overtime it became clear that we needed a women’s range too.
So together, student fashion designer Harriet McHugh and I set about creating the range. We thought about what we like to wear; as women; what our friends wear and what different women of different ages like to wear for the inspiration behind the products.
We’re just getting back into the swing of things after a fantastic and (mostly) sunny weekend at VW Festival. A cracking few days filled with cars and music; and we’re delighted to say we made some brilliant news friends, and welcomed some new members to the Ushi Tribe.
Our VW Festival journey started pretty early – 6am Friday morning, to be precise – when we packed up our very own Ushi VW van and set off to Harewood House in Leeds. It’s an event we’ve always wanted to attend both personally and professionally, so we had been looking forward to it for months.
Wow, what a busy but exciting few months it’s been at Ushi. To all our new customers and followers, thankyou, and welcome to the Ushi tribe!
You may have noticed a few changes around here. Yep, that’s right, we’ve had a bit of a spring clean and launched our brand spanking new site. After months of hard work (and many more months’ deliberation) we were ready to reveal the new look Ushi web to the world… And we love it! Read more
The early days of creating a brand are difficult for anybody. Establishing a name, locating premises, sourcing materials and finding trusted partners that got ‘it’; whatever ‘it’ might be. For me though, it was the logo that caused me the most trouble.
Whilst I would normally call myself a pretty decisive person, this was different. I found myself really needing to discuss things with those I know and trust, so it perhaps won’t come as much of a shock that the name, Ushi, was decided on following much procrastination and, finally, a discussion with a close friend back in 2008.
